Questions to consider before registering your child for a summer day camp
- Ask what types of activities your child will be participating in, as some camps specialize in specific themes such as arts and crafts or sports such as hockey or soccer etc.
- Ask questions from friends or neighbours where they send their kids and what their experiences were
- Does the camp offer a large variety of activities or are they restricted to just a few activities with little education or fun
- Does the building have air conditioning or have a mircowave oven for heating up hot lunches
- Is the age group of kids a wide ranges of ages or too large a group, your child may be with older kids who can be intimidating to younger children or there are just too many kids in each group
- What types of activities are programmed and does the camp offer a complete programming guide so you can discuss the events that you child will be going on will be to their liking
- What are the staff turnovers and how many staff return each year as kids who are returning can already relate to camp supervisors as they already know them
- Camp costs and financial information (some camps offer financial aid for parents)
- Does the camp provide special needs for children
- Is the camp clean, comfortable and sanitary
- what does the camp offer in terms of safety or medical help if necessary
- Are kids allowed to call home if they are homesick for example

Soccer Camps at the Royal City Soccer Club
Is your child a soccer player? Send your kids to the royal city soccer club which offers soccer camps for boys and girls ages 5 to 13 at local Ottawa, Nepean and Kanata locations. Register online or by phone by June 1 and get a discount rate for registering early. Full day and morning and afternoon sessions available July and August weekdays.

Ottawa School of Art Summer Camp
Is your child a gifted or aspiring artist, then you may want to consider a summer of art classes? The ottawa school of art offers weekly classes for kids ages 6 to 12 years of age. Classes start July 7 to August 29th.
Kids will be painting, drawing, wax moldmaking, learning about photography, doing sculpture, calligraphy, papermaking, digital arts and more.

The Ottawa Athletic Club
The OAC offers summer camps for kids interested in sports including weekly activities in Tennis, Squash, Golf, Hockey, Track, Soccer, Racquetball, Basketball, and Beach Vollyball. Maximum Performance Hockey Summer Camp
Jim Durrell Arena has hockey camps for boys and girls in house and competitive levels from novice to midget level of hockey. This hockey skills camp runs every Sunday in June, July and August between 4:30 and 9:00pm and teaches puck handling skills, passing, shooting, power skating, shooting power and accuracy, and positioning. .
